Independent Investigations. Defensible Decisions.
Specialist regulatory and workplace investigators — British Columbia

Regulatory Investigations
Professional associations and colleges rely on investigation committees, typically staffed by volunteers from within the profession, to determine whether a matter under investigation should move to discipline. Those committees need complete, impartial, evidence-based investigations to make defensible decisions. That is what AWC provides.
Our investigators bring deep specialization in serious professional conduct matters, complementing the broader expertise of volunteer investigators. Partnering with specialist support helps ensure conduct is examined to the standard these cases demand and that procedural requirements are met throughout the process.
AWC brings the case management, evidence handling, and science-based interviewing that complex regulatory matters demand. We investigate individuals and organizations, separating individual conduct from systemic or governance failures where both are in scope.
Our investigations equip legal counsel with a thorough, defensible evidentiary record for the discipline stage and our reports are written with disclosure in mind from the outset.
Workplace Investigations
When serious misconduct arises in the workplace like harassment, discrimination, negligence, fraud, or conduct that falls outside normal HR processes, organizations need an independent investigator with the skills and experience to reach a reliable conclusion.
Unlike regulatory investigations, a workplace investigator determines directly whether conduct breached a legal standard or company policy. That requires genuine independence from both the incident and the parties which can be challenging for those trained to protect the organization or advocate for their client.
AWC investigators are specialist investigators first. Whether the matter involves interpersonal conflict, professional misconduct, or corporate wrongdoing, we gather evidence thoroughly, analyze it against applicable standards, and deliver a clear, defensible conclusion.
Organizations typically engage an external investigator when the matter is serious, when no internal capacity exists, or when independence is essential to the credibility of the outcome.

Why AWC
The independence of an investigation is structural. AWC investigators are not trained to advocate or protect. They are trained to investigate.
Genuine Independence
Lawyers are trained to advocate. HR professionals are trained to protect the organization. Neither is a substitute for a specialist investigator. AWC operates independently of all parties, our only obligation is to the evidence.
Specialist Experience
Serious misconduct requires investigators who have encountered it before. Our team brings extensive experience across government, professional regulators, and the private sector. Each investigator is experienced in major case management, evidence handling, and trauma-informed interviewing skills that complex matters demand.
Transparent Reporting
AWC reports present source evidence and analysis side by side. Clients can read exactly what witnesses said, and what documents show, prior to reading our analysis and recommendations. As we are not advocates for any party our reports are written with disclosure in mind.
Evidence First. Analysis Second.
Every AWC investigation follows the same principle: gather all available facts before evaluating conduct. Reliable findings depend on a complete evidentiary record not on assumptions, first impressions, or the perspectives of those with an interest in the outcome.
Our process covers case assessment, evidence gathering, structured interviewing, and compliance analysis. Each stage documented and managed to the standard required for regulatory or legal proceedings.
We write reports that are transparent and defensible. No inflammatory language. No advocacy. Evidence and analysis presented clearly so that decision-makers, whether a committee, an employer, or a tribunal, can rely on the findings with confidence.
